Queen Angelfish
Scientific name: Holacanthus ciliaris
Description: The Queen Angelfish has a striking blue and yellow body with a dark spot on the front of its head with small blue dots resembling a crown.They feed mostly on sponges but may also consume algae and tunicates.
Fun Facts:
a. Ciguatera poisoning can happen to humans if they consume this beautiful fish! It is due to the ciguatoxin in the marine dinoflagellates consumed by the angelfish. Common symptoms include: body weakness and stomach problems.
b. Sometimes this fish can be shy around others!
