Fairy basslet
Scientific name: Gramma Loreto
Description: The head region of a fairy basslet is a bright magenta and purple color while the rear is bright yellow in coloration. The fairy basslet is one of the smallest species of fish found in reef habitats growing only to 8 cm in length. Found in the caribbean, the basslet feeds on zooplankton drifting in the currents of the Atlantic ocean
Fun Facts:
a. The males make sure the nests they create out of sponge, coral and sea urchin spines are kept clean to impress the ladies!
b. All fairy basslets are born female and may change to a male at any time after maturation especially when a group is missing a male fish.
