Scientific name: Heteractis magnifica

Description: The magnificent sea anemone is fairly large, measuring up to 1 m in diameter. This species has tentacles that hardly taper. Instead, the ends are blunt and appear swollen or bulbous. Coloration varies but is always bright. They tend to attach on large rocks in open areas of the reef. The magnificent anemone often resembles the toadstool leather coral.

Fun Facts:

- In Indonesia, several may cluster together to form a large colony appearing like one large organism!

- In other pacific countries, the carpet anemone will cluster in hundreds forming large beds
