Whitespotted filefish
Scientific name: Cantherhines macrocerus
Description: Found primarily in the caribbean and western atlantic oceans, the white spotted filefish enjoys feeding on invertebrates and algae while cruising the reef tops. They are yellow or brown with white spots and patches. The caudal fin or tail is black. The body is laterally flattened. While they may have a trigger spine, it has lost its “trigger” function in this species. They can grow up to 35 cm in length and have been observed at depths of 20 meters.
