Scientific name: Equetus Punctatus

Description: The juvenile spotted drum has an extremely long dorsal fin, distinguishing the fish from its adult counterpart and other tropical fish. The rest of their body is black and white with some stripes and/or spots. They tend to be solitary and comfortable living within crevices or caves at depths of about 90 feet. Shrimp, crabs and marine worms known as polychaetes are their favorite food.

Fun Facts: These fish are part of the drum or croaker family due to their ability to produce a drumming or croaking noise with their air-filled organ, known as the swim bladder.
