Sergeant Major fish
Scientific name: Abudefduf saxatilis
Description:Overall, a yellow fish with dark black stripes on its body. They grow to 9 inches in length and may travel in schools of 100 or more members feeding on shrimp, algae, plankton and other marine organisms. Barracuda like to feed on Sergeant Major. These fish have a single nostril on each side of their snout setting them apart from other butterflyfish and angelfish.

a. The scientific name translates to ‘father’ due to his bossy nature with other fish
b. Its common name comes from the vertical black stripes on its body resembling a sergeant majors’ military rank insignia.
